Reader’s Question:

The health insurance policy that our company in Miami Florida FL is providing right now is very poor. It gave me an idea to ask the company to provide me an insurance allowance, rather than giving me a very insufficient coverage. With the insurance allowance, I will buy my own individual health insurance policy. Would this be a very nice idea or what?

Harry

Miami, FL

Take it easy Harry. If you really want it, try to meet an experienced health insurance agent in Miami Florida FL and discuss the matter. By discussing it with an experienced health insurance agent and opening up the reasons behind, you will have your options laid out properly. I would say that there are really advantages with group and individual health insurance plans.

Unlike individual health insurance, group health insurance normally does not require any prescreening. The health insurance provider contracted to insure the members of the group regardless of its medical history and most of the time including their family or dependents. Whereas, an individual health insurance requires a thorough medical screening and there are bigger possibilities that the applicant could be rejected due to other reasons such as financial capacity and other factors.

I am not telling you these things because I am discouraging you to go on with your plan. I am showing you possibilities if you will make any purchase. Discussing things with an experienced health insurance agent in Miami Florida FL will also greatly help in assessing your options. After reviewing and evaluating your plans with the health insurance agent, be sure that pre-existing conditions are well covered if and when you make a choice. In most cases, individual health insurance premiums has a greater rate than group health insurance.

Harry think about it together with your health insurance agent in Miami Florida FL before you come up with a final decision and choose the right plan that suits to your requirements. You may also opt to get free quotes online using this site or other insurance websites.

Reader’s Question:

Over all I am very pleased with my health insurance plan in Miami Florida FL. I have a good understanding of the coverage and the riders. The one that confuses me is the prescription coverage. The health insurance rider must have changed because I am paying more for the same medications. Any advice?

Carol

Dutch Fork, SC

Hello Carol,

Throughout the health insurance industry, prescription coverage has changed considerably. Today’s new miracles drugs get the job done but they are expensive. You need to get information about all prescriptions. Most health insurance policies in Miami Florida FL have significantly lower deductibles for generic prescriptions.

You should ask your physician and pharmacist about possible generic substitutions to help control your exposure.

Your pharmacist in Miami Florida can really help coordinate your prescriptions. He should be familiar with your health insurance prescription plan. He will also know comparable prescriptions and will furnish you a list that you can review with your physician.

You may want to consider your own research. Most drugs are detailed and easy to check on the internet.

Your health insurance carrier in Florida FL wants you to be knowledgeable about your prescriptions. Make sure the dosages make sense. Explain to your doctor that you are trying to control your costs and ask for his assistance. Of course the best way to control health care costs is to stay healthy.

Health Insurance Cancellation Miami FL

Reader’s Question:

My health insurance company retroactively cancelled my health coverage. I would like to know if this is legal or not in Miami?

Mary

Miami, FL

Thanks for finding out, Mary.

It would help for you to be reminded that health insurance coverage in Miami is not an absolute guaranteed of protection from financial difficulty in case of illness. There are cases of consumers who had health insurance retroactively cancelled upon diagnosis of a serious illness which left them with thousands of dollars in uncovered medical expenses. Technically, that is not allowed in the federal law, but only if the consumer has committed fraud. Fraud refers to a sort of misrepresentation during the application process, such as omitting important facts or deliberately lying on the application form.

Most health insurance companies in Miami invoke that they solely rely on the policyholders to fully disclose all potential health problem so that they will be able to decide whether or not the applicant shall be granted health insurance coverage, and at what premium rate. If and when the policyholder will be diagnosed of a serious or terminal illness later on, the health insurance company will conclude that the policyholder committed fraud during the application process because there was nondisclosure of the illness from the start.

Health insurance policyholders of these cases however contend that this is and honest mistake, such as misunderstanding of the diagnosis or medical conditions that has long been cured. There are already many cases filed in court of fights against retroactive cancellation, and results of such lawsuits are still pending in great numbers. Although, rarely does it happen that health insurance coverage is cancelled…maybe less than .5% each year.

So is there any remedy to avoid such? Full disclosure, even of cured illness, needs to be done from the very beginning.
